Story

On Saturday 23 July my friend Tom and I are getting on our bikes at Land's End, Cornwall. Hopefully we'll be arriving in John O'Groats, Scotland 12 days later. I'll be honest: We're doing this because we want to and because it's theoretically possible that we'll enjoy it. However, everyone i've mentioned the ride to has asked, "Who are you doing it for?".

Whilst it feels a little disingenuous to collect sponsorship when that isn't the motivation for the trip it also seems churlish not to, especially when there is a humanitarian catastrophe unfolding in East Africa.

So, don't feel obliged, and I won't be hassling anyone, but if you did feel like you wanted to donate to the Disasters Emergency Committee, they can certainly use the money. Every £100 they receive will fund food parcels for 100 starving families.

Like I said, it seems churlish not to.
