Story

Hello!!

I am running the Royal Parks Half Marathon on Sunday 12th of October. This is a circuit that covers Green Park, Hyde Park, St James' Park and Regents Park.

My ambition is to emulate one of my athletic's heroes of recent times, Paul Tergat of Kenya (see photo on left) and break the half marathon world record. Training has gone ok and I am now tapping up to 11kph on the treadmill for a 30 minute run (11.1 with headphones). I am going against conventional training wisdom and backloading most of my training with a few runs planned for next week. We'll see how it goes on the day but I'm fairly (outrageously) confident of success.

However, the world record is only part of the real reason I'm doing the run.

In all seriousness, I am running on behalf of the National Benevolent Fund for The Aged, a charity whose activities I have been increasingly been made aware of in recent months.

I am trying to raise £450 for the charity and would be extremely grateful for any help you could give me in trying to meet my target.

This is why I'd like you to help out...

We all know someone old and we all know how the little things in life become more and more important as you get older. The NBFA is a fantastic organisation who's mission is to try and improve the quality of life for elderly people on low-incomes across the UK. The way they do this is threefold:

1) By organising free holidays for those who can't afford to go on holiday;

2) By providing emergency telephone alarms to give peace of mind that if there is an emergency help will be on its way quickly; and

3) By purchasing TENS pain relief machines for those guys who really need it.

To my mind, this is a well-focused strategy and you can imagine the difference it makes to the lives of those elderly people that the NBFA reaches.

In order to reach more elderly people, please support me in trying to raise this amount of cash for them.

Please give as little or as much as you want, anything is a bonus.

And remember...

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: National Benevolent Fund For The Aged gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now!
