Our team has duly completed the Patrouille des Glacier 2008 on April 16/17. More importantly, thanks to your generosity we have raised over GBP 6,000 for Absolute Return for Kids. We arrived exhausted and slightly frozen in Verbier after 11 hours and 55 minutes of climbing and skiing, coming in a respectable 29^th out of 315 teams.

We would usually not bother you with our extracurricular activities but since the benefits of our blood, sweat and tears are going to a very worthy cause we are allowing ourselves to ask you for a donation to Absolute Return for Kids (ARK). This charity does great work in many areas, e.g. Improving the quality of life for children in families affected by HIV/AIDS in South Africa (www.arkonline.org). 

What we have to do:

Complete the Patrouille Des Glaciers (Glacier Patrol; www.pdg.ch).  The PDG is an international military ski-touring race open to civilian patrols. Our 3 man patrol will compete in the high alpine race over glaciers from Zermatt to Verbier, Switzerland. The course is over 53km with vertical ascent of 3994 metres at altitudes between 1520 and 3160 metres. We hope to complete the race in under 12 hours.
