Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

In the past 6 months I've lost my mam and I've also lost a friend, both of whom have been cared for by the wonderful staff at The Butterwick Hospice until they passed away.

I, like so many other people from this area have heard the name Butterwick so many times before and have given money at charity evenings and raffles etc and have even donated outside of supermarkets, but I don't think people realise what this organisation is all about until they are unfortunate enough to be involved with it through a member of their family or a friend becoming a patient there.

When I first visited the hospice I became overwhelmed at the level of care and comfort that was being offered. There are also lots of facilities for families of patients including a library and a beautiful little chapel which I personally took a lot of comfort from when it was needed.

As many of you know, a long time ago I used to run a little bit (when i was younger and fitter) and I think this will be my 14th Great North Run. During previous runs I've raised a lot of money for local and national charities but this is one I hold close to my heart. I won't  be breaking any records and you won't see me at Beijing competing in the olympics, but hopefully with your help I will raise enough money to help maintain the upkeep of such a fine organisation to enable them to continue helping terminally ill people from our area when they need it most.

I cannot do this on my own, so please give generously. Even if you can only spare one pound, it would be greatly appreciated and you can take satisfaction from the fact that you are helping an organisation to give care to terminally ill people from our local communities.
