Update, 30 March 2010

THANK YOU! A massive thanks from Rory and his family for all your support, kind comments and donations to the DEC. We so appreciate it and this website has really kept Rory going during some tough times, he's so chuffed to have received donations from far and wide, and all the messages of support and encouragement really made him smile. He even made it into the local papers, and onto the DEC's Facebook page, which thrilled him no end, he feels like a wee celebrity!

He started reintroducing food on Sunday, and will be having his last night feed through the tube tonight - and it comes out and goes into the bin tomorrow morning, yippee! Back to normal life - packed lunches, family meals, trips to cafes, and of course sausages, which we are having for tea tonight! Rory has been amazingly brave, upbeat and accepting throughout this challenge, he has been a real star. He now has lots more energy and has regained all the weight he lost when he was so ill so we're very hopeful this has worked, and if it hasn't, it's put him on a great footing for whatever comes next.

Thank you again - very sincerely - you have really helped us all get through a long and testing 6 weeks and in so doing, have sent a massive sum to Haiti, where it is so needed. The total today, with gift aid, is over £2,200!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I am Rory Kemp and I am 5 years old and live in Edinburgh. I have a 'special tummy', caused by either Crohn's Disease or Ulcerative Colitis (the doctors aren't completely sure yet) and as part of my treatment I am trying a challenge of going for 6 weeks without eating any food apart from the special drinks that the hospital prescribe, which go into a tube in my nose that goes straight to my tummy. This will give my tummy a rest and hopefully get it working better again, and I will have more energy and not feel so unwell.  I have just had a week in hospital and now I have five more weeks to go at home with my special tube in my nose.
Six weeks with NO FOOD at all is a big challenge for anyone, but especially for a 5 year old.
Just imagine 6 weeks with no crisps, no sausages, no buttery toast, no chocolate...could you manage it?
I have been thinking of lots of ways to help me complete this challenge and as well as reward charts and stickers I thought it would help me if I could get sponsored.
My school raised some money for Haiti recently and I know the children there have very little and really need our help. So if you can sponsor me, even just a few pennies, to do my challenge, then I will know that children in Haiti will get help, and that will encourage me to keep going even when I am really missing food (and I am really missing it - I have been dreaming about sausages).
Thank you very much for reading this and for sponsoring me. Although my mum typed this it really was my idea to get this sponsorship for Haiti.
