Story
Hey everybody! Alrigh hows it going alrigh! thankyou for taking the time to visit my justgiving page!!
On the 26th September 2010 I will be running the Swansea Bay 10K in memory of my dad, Graham Jones. Dad was an avid, passionate runner and took part in this 10k race every year right into his sixties often outrunning my young friends! (His best time being 45 minutes at the age of 64!) Some of my fondest memories of Dad involve the two of us running along Swansea bay together and I couldn't think of a better way to commemorate him than to take part in the race that he was so fond of.
Dad was diagnosed with Malignant Melanoma in July 2009 and passed away on the 8th December 2009. For such an incredibly fit man to sucuumb to the cruelities of this cancer in such a short space of time is a clear case of the viciousness of this horrible horrible disease. Although Melanoma is the less common form of skin cancer it is responsible for 75% of skin cancer related deaths. It is therfore my intention to raise money for the charity Melanoma Focus to help find a cure for this horrid cancer so that other families will not have to have been devastated in the way that mine was.
Thankyou all for reading and any spare pennies that you might be in possession of would be appreciated so so very much!
Lots of love,
Rosie xxxxxxx
Melanoma Focus is a UK-wide charity supporting independent research into the most serious – and increasingly prevalent – form of skin cancer: malignant melanoma. Founded by a team of world class research and clinical professionals Melanoma Focus is dedicated to raising badly needed funds for innovative research projects on the causes of this poorly understood cancer, with the ultimate goal of finding a cure. The charity also supports educational programmes aimed at increasing awareness and improving collaboration between medical professionals involved in the melanoma community.
