Hi,

Recently I was reflecting on life and how wonderful it can be, my wife refers to this moment as an early indication of a mid-life crisis.

During this moment of reflection, I came to a number of conclusions, life has treated my family and I well, I have had many great experiences, but what was next? I decided I needed a challenge and that I would like to give something back into life.

Once I had discounted the obvious choices, swimming the Amazon, climbing Everest and locking myself in a glass box for 44 days with no food and water suspended over theThames, I decided upon the 2008 London Marathon.

This challenge also had the added bonus that I could put something back by raising money and the awareness for a worth while cause. I just needed to be careful that my lithe frame did not waste away through an exhaustive training programme.

I have decided to run for Ray’s of Sunshine children’s charity, the Kcom Group’s charity of the year 2007. Rays of Sunshine was formed in 2004 to help seriously and terminally ill children between the ages of 3-18 in the .

They do this by:-

1. Granting these children’s wishes however impossible the wish may seem
2. Purchasing equipment such as electric wheelchairs or hoists to make their lives easier
3. Helping hospitals, hospices and specialist schools improve their facilities

I am sure that you will all agree, helping children who have serious or terminal illnesses is something we can all relate to and see why it is important to support their work.
