Story
I have organised a 'Sponsored Pub Walk' with a difference, starting at the Rovers Return in Manchester on the morning of Saturday 25th July 09 and finishing at the Woolpack in Leeds, late Sunday afternoon 26th July 09.
The distance of this walk is approximately 45 miles!, so this will be broken up with an overnight stay in Holmfirth via 'Sid's Café' from Last of the Summer Wine. It is estimated that there would be a total of 8 hours (leisurely) walking on each day.
Out team comprises of:
Lindsey Coffey, Anthony McBride, David Dransfield, Remi Koplinski, Kim Caldwell, Pip Kettlewell, Lee Affen, Jean-Marie Salmacis, Joanne Hancock, Mark Philips, Emma Hammond, Samantha Roe, Andy Hawkshaw, Nikki Taylor & Kym Connor
Granada Television are allowing the group access to the Rovers Return around on Saturday 25th July for photographs (and possibly a pint), before we set off to Holmfirth.
Yorkshire Television are allowing the group to have access to the Woolpack studio set at Granada Television in Leeds around 5.00pm on Sunday 26th July again for photographs (and possibly a pint…... and oxygen).
Sadly two of my close friends (Anthony McBride and Lindsay Coffee) recently experienced the loss of their unborn baby after 8 months of pregnancy, and it is them that suggested the walk should be in order to raise funds for the SANDS charity (Stillbirth & Neonatal Death Charity) - they will also be participating in this walk. Please see below web link for this charity:
Any money which is raised (up to £2000.00) from the sponsored walk, will be matched by Bupa's Community Connections scheme, as 4 or more Bupa employees will be taking part in the walk.
