Story
Greetings Ladies and Gentlemen, Girls and Guys,
Thanks a lot for visiting! The sentiment alone is much appreciated.
So here is the lowdown, I have decided to run my first ever competitive race (it's about time, and the motivation not to slack off the training is fantastic!) and it just so happens to be in Berlin (nice and flat, don't want to put myself off for the future... baby steps!).
My friends and I will be heading over on the 28th of march, braving the German spring, to raise money for various charities, and I have chosen one which I feel particularly strongly about, and whose work appears to be genuinely impactful. I'll proceed with the spiel, but before I do, whatever you can afford to donate would be greatly appreciated, and I feel that with this charity, every little bit could really make a difference.
Beyond those with disabilities, one in four people will experience mental health problems such as anxiety and depression in any given year. The mental health foundation recognises that a quick drug fix is often not the answer, and research, promote, and attempt to provide funding for alternative approaches.
They have undertaken work on topics as diverse as:
- nutrition
- exercise
- alcohol
- family situations
- parenting
- schools
- acute services
- early intervention
- cultural diversity.
All geared towards a greater understanding of how mental health issues can be coped with and resolved in the long term. Last year they spent 75p in every £1 on:
- Research
- Development
- Information work
