Diabetes UK is a charity which funds research into a future without diabetes, and supports the children and adults living with the condition today. I have decided to do a 20 km sponsored row for Diabetes UK, as part of my DoE Bronze Award, because during the half-term (October), Cara, my sister, was diagnosed with type one diabetes whilst we were on holiday in Scotland. She is doing very well now.
The majority of donations, made to Diabetes UK, go towards continuing their research into the causes of diabetes, and their work towards preventing and, eventually, curing the the condition.
Please sponsor me through this page (www.justgiving.com/rowfordiabetes), before Christmas. Also, I would really appreciate it if you would pass this on to anyone you know who cares about this cause.
I have completed two practice rows of 5km (in 22mins 39secs 59msecs and 21mins 6secs 50msecs), and a another practice row of 10km (in 45mins 35secs 50msecs).
On Saturday, I did the full row (20km in 1hr 35mins 11secs 40msecs).
Thank you very much to those who have sponsored me so far and to Sam Collins, for supervising me. And also, even though I've done the row, it's not too late to sponsor me!
