Story
Thank you for visiting our fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor us online.
Recently a close friend of ours has been diagnosed with Acute Leukaemia, he got the news just one month after his 21st birthday. It has come as a shock to us all because Michael is such a fit, strong and able person. He has just finished his modern apprenticeship at BT and was looking to buy a house with his girlfriend. This has happened at such a key part in his life so we are doing all we can to give him a speedy and full recovery.
He is currently being treated at the Davidson Ward in the Kings College Hospital in London and starts his chemotherapy on Tues 12th September. This is a hard time for us all and we can't even begin to imagine how Michael must feel.
We are trying to raise money for the Davidson ward which is where cancer patients get treated at the Hospital. We will also be holding a sweep stake on the day of the row so people can guess how many metres the six of us combined will row taking shifts on the one rowing machine in the 24 hours.
We will be starting the row at 8pm on Friday 27th October and continuing until the Saturday at 8pm, it will be held at the Triangle Leisure Centre in Burgess Hill,
West Sussex . So please feel free to come along and give us some support.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us, the King's College Hospital Charitable Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor us now!
Many thanks for your support.
Due to the overwhelming response to our row-a-thon, and hitting our target so quickly we have decided to raise the target from £2000 to £3500. This will really help towards the refurbishment of the Davidson ward. Thank you to everyone who has donated so far.
Also a big thank you to Trevor LLewellyn and RBS for a very generous donation of £400.
Thank you to everyone who donated and came along to support us during our gruelling battle with the rowing machine! I am very proud to say that all 6 members of the team completed the full 24 hours, I am especially proud of Ryan who managed to do the last 18 hours with incredible pains in both of his legs. We managed to row a whopping 313,000 meters(as the crow flys that is from burgess hill to the bottom of manchester, stockport) and on the day we raised £800 in cash which is getting donated to Leukaemia Research UK .
We are already brain storming about what our next fund raising event is going to be so watch this space!!!!
p.s the website is still open for donations until the end of November so please keep donating!
