Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

We have all seen the footage of the Haiti earthquake on tv, and the relief effort underway. A good friend of mine Kelly Sapsford spent 4 weeks in Haiti to aid in the relief work so this is simply me trying to do my bit to help raise money for the relief aid. Normally you would not think that life can change too much in only seven seconds.  Yet that's all the time it took for the devastating earthquake in Haiti to leave an estimated 200,000 dead and 1.5million homeless. Seven seconds!

Winning  BBC's Total Wipeout (series 2 episode 6) last summer was possibly my biggest challenge ever...... Not anymore. After deciding to raise money for the relief effort I felt that it had to push me outside my comfort zone.  Originally this was to be a 26.2 mile marathon but sadly a persistent knee injury didn't heal in time for the race.  It was then decided to switch the challenge.  Complete 200k on a gym bike as fast as possible.  This attempt took place at Fitness First Cardiff North on Sun April 25th 2010.  Estimated finish time was to be around 6hrs to 6hr 30min. I decided to throw caution to the wind and take on the first 100k hard and just hang on to the finish.

******* COMPLETED 200k in 5hr 46min 32.47sec*******
0-100k       - 2hr 50min 26sec
100-200k  - 2hr 56min 6 sec

Prior to doing this my best 100k TT on the gym bike (Life Fitness bike on level 12) was 2hr 54min.  So my first 100k was a PB by 4 mins and the last 100k was still my 3rd fastest ever done.  I was fading from 90k so just tried to hang on in the last 110k.

On facebook I have set up a group page which you are welcome to join.  I will also be putting my training updates on there each week so you can track my progress.  Click Here
