Story
Hi All,
We made it and here is the evidence!
Having spent 4 tough days on our bikes we finally got in Paris on Saturday afternoon, the total journey was 315 miles and we climbed over 12,000 feet along the way, little did we know at the time of arranging that we had chosen the hardest route out of two available!
Plenty of bumps and bruises along the way too, Emma fell off and then had her very first puncture on the Champs Elysees just having cycled past the Arc De Triomphe on route to the Eiffel Tower, this meant a quick bike change, thanks to the fantastic organisers!
It was more competitive than I had thought and as you might expect I got a little bit drawn in! In fact I've never cycled as hard and as fast as I did on Day 3 when with 3 others we completed the 80 miles in just 4 hours, averaging just under 20 mph! Lunch is for whimps!
On the last day we decided that it would be best and safest to ride into Paris together, so no yellow jacket or heroics, in hindsight a very good decision, the combination of traffic and conditions caused by heavy rain made it a very challenging experience.
Thanks again to everyone who sponsored us, we are getting towards our target, just a little more work to do! It is a 'one off' for us so don't worry we won't be coming back again and again for more sponsorship although we are already planning our next event, we've well and truely got the bug!
The Keech Cottage is run by the Pasque Charity. These guys provide free specialist care for children diagnosed with life-limiting illness across the whole of Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Milton Keynes. Their aim is to give the children the best quality of life in the time they have. The children's' families are also fully supported in what you can imagine is a very difficult period.
Thanks Again for all of your support.
