Story
The South Downs Way follows the old routes and droveways along the chalk ridges of the South Downs it is officially 105 miles long & covers 13,600ft of ascent & descent whichever way you travel. The average time taken to complete this route is 8-9 days (walking), not wanting to make something easier we are looking to complete this within 5 days from 30th April to 4th May.
To make this mission a little more worthwhile we decided to raise some funds for charity, the charities we have chosen are the Alzheimers Support Charity & The Alzheimers Society.
Our mission is outlined as follows:
Day 1 Winchester to Buriton (approx 27 Miles)
Day 2 Buriton to Houghton (approx 22.5 Miles)
Day 3 Houghton to Ditchling (approx 25.5 Miles)
Day 4 Ditchling to Alfriston (approx 21 Miles)
Day 5 Alfriston to Eastbourne (approx 12.5 Miles)
Feel free to follow us on Twitter at http://twitter.com/flashandy we will be tweeting along the route to let everyone know how we are getting on.
We have already done about 150 miles training which left us all realising what a massive challenge we are attempting to undertake.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Alzheimer's Support gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
