Story

Uncle Chris and Uncle John are running the St Albans Half Marathon this Sunday, the 13th June! Our 5 year old nephew Patrick is currently making great progress recovering from chemotherapy treatment. We are both running to raise money for the Northern Ireland Cancer Fund for Children, a charity that has helped Patrick and his family significantly. Any donation you wish to make to this worthy cause is very much appreciated!

Please note this website will still receive donations well into August.

On the 3rd May, various members of Patrick's family ran in the team relay and individual events in the Belfast Marathon.  It was a fantastic day and experience which we all enjoyed very much! Many thanks for all the sponsorship so far!

In early December of last year, our wonderful 5 year old son / nephew / grandson / brother Patrick suddenly became seriously ill with a lymphoma in his throat and lungs, was rushed into hospital requiring urgent surgery to save his life. Patrick is now approaching the end of his 6 months course of chemotherapy and, although at times he is understandably finding things really tough, he is making really good progress.

One of the charities that have recently provided support to Patrick and his family is the Northern Ireland Cancer Fund for Children.
The Northern Ireland Cancer Fund for Children (NICFC) is a registered charity, which offers practical, emotional and financial support to children and young people who are living with cancer, and their families. To find out more please visit their website - http://www.nicfc.com.

In an attempt to raise lots of money for this most worthy of charities, lots of Patrick's family decided to dust off their running shoes and start pounding a ridiculous number of miles (especially given their current fitness levels!!!!).

So we decided to do the following runs:-
Monday, 3rd May - Belfast Marathon -
Mairead, Rob, Uncle David, Uncle Patrick and Auntie Lauren ran the marathon team relay race finishing in a very respectable time just over 5 hours, whilst Uncle John finished in just over 4 hours.
It was a great day and experience which we all enjoyed very much!
Sunday 13th June - St. Albans - Uncle Chris and Uncle John will be running the Half Marathon.

To date, we've raised £3,000 (including gift aid) for the CLIC Sargent charity, which has provided great assistance and support to Patrick and his family. If you would like to sponsor us, we are now raising money for the Northern Ireland Cancer Fund for Children.
