Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Last year, we lost our mum, Margaret Lines, to cancer. Mum, or Martha as she was known to all of her grandchildren was a force of nature and a truly wonderful person. During her final weeks, she received fantastic care in the specialist unit at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle upon Tyne, which has benefited from the support of the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation. The team there were brilliant and we want to do what we can to help them continue their work and ongoing research being undertaken to beat cancer.
Mum completed the Great North Run twice and was a spectator on many other occasions. She was really passionate about the event and whenever possible made the effort to support family members when they took part. This will be Chris' 18th Great North Run (he thinks!), but it will be Kate's first. For both of us, it will be the most important run we have ever tackled, because it's in memory of our mum and because we want to raise as much money as possible for this important cause.
Please dig deep and help us achieve our goal of raising £1,000. Kate is aiming to complete the course in under 2 hours 15 minutes, while Chris is aiming to break 1 hour 30 minutes for the first time in a few years. If you want to incentivise us further, by all means set a challenge in the comments section.
