We provide quality care to help people thrive after a brain injury

Story

Flora London Marathon 2009

Thanks a million for visiting our fundraising page. After the incredible efforts of Tim Sharman, Rob Greening, Max Shepherd, Neil Shewan and Harry Judd in last year's marathon we raised over £25,000 for the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust (BIRT). None of which would have been possible without the generous support of all who sponsored us.

We STILL desperately need your support so that Rupert and the many others whose lives have been shattered by brain injury can continue to benefit from the incredible work of BIRT.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR SUPPORT

Love Magnus and Guy

A message from Tim.....

In February 1997 a very close friend and fellow music college student was involved in a major car accident.  Rupert suffered extensive facial and head injury, leaving some parts irrepairably damaged.   The care he received at the time was of an exceptional quality and this has continued for the past 12 years; Rupert now lives in a flat at Kent House, Aylesbury, a unit which cares for people who have suffered similar brain injury.  Rupert has care 24 hours a day, which enables him to live the fullest life possible.  And he does!  Still a very able horn player, he continues to enjoy a trip to the pub (if only for a coke (ice, no lemon!)), ten pin bowling and the occasional round of golf.  From those early days of learning to walk and talk again he has come a huge distance; however Rupert's progress is slow and, as with any brain injury, the ultimate outcome is unknown.

It is The Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust which cares for Rupert. They are a charity which form part of a bigger organisation, The Disabilities Trust, caring for anyone and everyone with a disability and helping them to cope with their own personal challenges.  Together with Rupert's  two brothers Magnus and Guy, we are running the 2009 Flora London Marathon, on Sunday April 26 to raise funds for this amazing cause, taking on a personal challenge of our own.

I realise there are constant demands on your generosity since you probably know others who are collecting for their particular charity or good cause.  Please help us to support the fantastic work of BIRT to continue helping people who really are in need, like my mate Rupert.

A message from guy.......

Standing on the sideline in the rain last year watching Magnus run past at the London Marathon was a wake up call for me. Why wasn't I running for Rupert?! This year I will be joining Mag and Tim to run for the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust which has supported Roops for the last 12 years and continues to do so at Kent House in Aylesbury. It will be the biggest gig of the year! Running for Rupert means so much to us and your support will help Rupert go from strength to strength. Love and thanks to all, Guy

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It's also the most efficient way to sponsor us: The Disabilities Trust gets your money faster and, if you're a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
