Hi, I'm Nick, and I'm a bit nervous as I've signed up to run the Virgin 2010 London Marathon.
The 26.2 mile run I can prepare for. I think. More daunting for me, however, is the £1500 fundraising target. But I'm going to do it, dammit, because I'm doing it for MSRC, an absolute gem of a charity. I won't repeat here all the first-rate services they provide for all those afflicted daily by Multiple Sclerosis, I'd urge you instead to read about them via the link on this page.
What I will tell you is that, since my mum was diagnosed with MS in 2008, they've made a positive and tangible difference to hers & my dad's understanding of her condition, in doing so enabling them to clearly research the choices available to them, safe in the knowledge that their source material is objective and reliable.
It was this bombshell, and my mum's subsequent stubborn refusal to be sofabound as a result, that inspired me to stop thinking about running the marathon and get up off my couch and do it. So, as you're here, please help me to help MSRC to continue helping people like my mum, by donating as much as you dare.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Sincerest thanks
Nervous Nick
