Story
Hi Everybody,
We have completed our challenge - inspite of an injured back (me), not having done enough training (Diane) and - even more serious - Frieda's lymphatic cancer. Rupert as usual was full of beans, in true Airedale style.
We ran the 26 multi-terrrain course with three 600ft ascends in 5.50 hrs; the dogs accompanied us for 13 miles of the course.
I want to thank first of all my running buddies for the motivation, companionship and cameraderie during the months of training and during the event. This is of course Diane, Rupert and most of all Frieda who showed great strength and determination in spite of her illness - she simply would not give up!
This is the for me the most important lesson from this adventure - set yourself a goal, prepare of course, meet the challenges on the way and never give up!!
Thank you for everyone who supported us with their kind thoughts and well wishes, encouragement and donations .
This Justgiving account is still welcoming more donations and Frieda is very grateful in particular for any spare penny kindly given to the Airedale Terrier Health Fund. Wuff, wagg and many, many thanks and see you again at another marathon!!
Our chose charities are therefore:
The Airedale Terrier Health Fund because Airedales are such entertainers and truly mens' best friends and I would like to help genetic diseases to be improved in all Airedales. You can check their research on www.airedalehealthfund.co.uk
THEY DON'T HAVE A DIRECT ACCOUNT WITH JUSTGIVING.COM SO IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO DONATE TO THIS CHARITY PLEASE SEND A CHEQUE MADE OUT TO theairedaleterrierhealthfund AND POST IT TO:
Mrs Christine Keay (Health co-ordinator and Secretary) Homestead, 15 Perrins Lane, Wollscote, Stourbridge, West Midlands DY9 8XP and write on the back "marathon"
THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!
My second chosen charity is Heathlands Animal Sanctuary because they care for strays, mistreated and unwanted dogs and cats in foster homes (not kennels!) and they do sterling work for the dreadful stray dog situation in Ireland. Please visit their website on www.heathlands.org.uk
I am looking forward to every mile I will run with my two fuzzy monsters and also to every penny you can spare for my good cause. Please see my website on my two best friends on www.saffronairedales.webs.com
Thank you and hope to hear from you soon!!
