Story
Thank you for visiting this page in memory of our angel Samah.
Samah Suliman left us on July 26, 2007 in sudden circumstances before her wedding day. Beautiful, pure-hearted and with a natural infectious love for life and people, her departure was a shock for us all.
On Friday, 14th September, the Samah House Project launch will take place at an iftar dinner in London.
On the same day in Sudan, Dr Ali Mahdi and the children of the SOS Children's Villages Khartoum will plant a young sapling in her memory
Your kind contributions will go towards the rebuilding of Khartoum Village, a place of nurture, schooling and residence for children orphaned as a result of recent troubles in Sudan. If we make the target of £5,000 (USD10,000), we can build an entire house in the village. Dr Mahdi has suggested we call the home Samah House.
Samah lives on in our memories forever and we hope that we can also honour her spirit by building a home for the young children of Sudan
I hope to see you at dinner this Friday or at future events in London, New York, Dubai or Khartoum.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. If you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in Gift Aid will be added to your donation at no cost to you.
Thank you very much to everyone who attended Friday's dinner - please see below a copy of the beautiful poem Ken wrote for Sam and recited at dinner last Friday:
YOU ARE A BEAUTIFUL PERSON SAMAH SULIMAN
I knew you were special when we first met at School.
Fate.. Brought us together and that was so cool.
A confused soul I was
And a pure gem you were
Together we shared our lives in love and despair.
We quickly became best of friends.
10 years, to this day....
Hoping.. That our lives.. Will always
Be this way..
Always smiling Sammy, very bubbly and genuine.
Excitable like a baby.. That was just born anew.
You lived life always happy.. Brighter.. Than a million stars
But like all angels Sammy.. You have to travel wide and far.
I REMEMEBER.IN OUR STUDENT DAYS
You always helped me study, as hard you did
And soon.. I became.. Almost as good as you wished.
You were so happy for me.. Never harboured a jealous trait
And I was so shocked
Saying to myself.. Isn’t she so great.
You soon got a job in London and excelled as you always prayed.
I became a jobless bum and I so.. Lost my way.
You dragged me to your office and thought me what to say.
You explained to your boss.. That u were helping your best mate.
I learnt to live again and started smiling like you.
And pretty soon.. I was employed.
ALL.. Much thanks to you.
You’re a Wonderful Person Samah Suliman - X2
You fought being ill.. And tried to enjoy life everyday
Vowing.. That nothing.. will ever keep you down that way
I was frightened for you atimes, praying, that your ill health will come to pass.
But Sambo will always say.
I'll be damned if this will last.
She was fearless as always.. For such a little girl.
But bigger in stature.
More than words can tell.
I thought her the Nigerian words like Na waoo/where u dey!!
She thought me the Sudanese words like Awe'nia/Ana Kin te.
You knew how to make people smile.. Cause that’s the sort of person u are.
All your friends will remember u sambo.
As a super-super star.
We often had arguments..Like all friends usually do.
But always tried to make up.. Like true friends always should
She can be such a lovely brat and drive you insane
But no matter what she did.. She’ll always be loved anyway.
I owe her so much.. So much that words can’t explain.
But I hope she can hear me..
When I Say..
You are a special Person SAMAH SULIMAN x2
Fate has indeed brought us to a 1.80- degree turn.
But.. To me my friend.. You’re not gone.
Just being reborn
Young and beautiful.. So full of grace.
Bright and Intelligent.. A gem you cant replace.
Although we didn’t chat for months
You were always on my mind
Just didn’t want to bug you Sammy
As I’ve done that all my life.
Days before you were gone
You texted and said HELLO,
I have good news
Lets meet up NAMO.
I said.. Im good Sammy
Let me know when u free
Little did I know
That was her goodbye to ME.
I hope I will meet another gem like u.
Before am gone.
Or maybe you'll smile back at me in heaven
If I do come.
Im sorry... sorry for all the times I wronged you so bad.
Forgive me SAMBO
I was truly so sad.
Cherish your true friends everyone.. Every minute you are together
Cause there few good ones
And soon.. They’ll be gone forever.
I promise myself...I will never cry again
This is my last cry for SA MO HA
My rock and my friend.
MAY YOUR GENTLE SOUL REST IN PERFECT PEACE SAMAH GAFAAR IBNAAUF SULIMAN
- Ken Mbanugo
