Story
"Come in, sit down", the doctors said
"It’s MS" one stated pointing to mum’s head
"Your nerve endings are damaged", they continued to say
"But don’t worry, there’ll be a fix...one day"
What they didn’t explain was she’d be unable to walk
Not to mention the pain and finding it hard to talk
17 years on and there’s no cure in sight
Instead every day is a continual fight
But mum refuses to let it get her down
And tells people her jokes all over the town
Being sad and depressed is not my mum’s style
Her ethos, simple, MS means Make ‘Em Smile
In the summer last year to make matters worse
We’re told she has cancer, we thought we were cursed
She had an operation it’s all they could do
Because of MS "chemo’s no good for you"
The least I could do to raise up some funds
Is lace up my trainers and go for a run
The half marathon I’ve done was a bit of a trial
I’m now doing the big one, that’s 26 miles
I’m asking you now to give generously
There’s 107,000 people with MS, you see
Not just my mum, but people worldwide
So screw you MS, I’ll run, you hide
