Project Trust: China 2008/2009

Welcome to my justgiving page! My name is Sam Irving and I'm 16 years old. I'm currently in 6th year at Dunblane High School studying German, Spanish and Religious, Moral and Philosophical Studies.

In August 2008 I will be travelling to one of the most rural areas of China to spend an entire twelve months working and living in  the local community, as a volunteer. While I am there I will be teaching English to secondary school students.

Project Trust (www.projecttrust.org.uk) is a non-profit educational charity, who select school-leavers during a 5-day residential activity based course on the beautiful Isle of Coll. All the overseas projects are a huge benefit to the community and don't deprive local people of jobs - since our jobs can only be fulfilled by an English speaking volunteer, such as myself.

However, before I can do this I must achieve my fundraising target.  I'm aiming to do this through individual sponsored events, in-school events, larger community events and approaching trust funds. Details of all fundraising events will be posted on this site.

NEWS

20/09/07 The article is in today's Allanwater News - my mum isn't too happy with my description of her reaction to me going to China!   She is being totally supportive really.

13/09/07 Today, I was interviewed with two other Project Trust volunteers by the Allanwater News. Keep an eye out for us, the article should be in print soon!

01/09/07 I have begun collecting sponsors for my first fundraising activity - a sponsored head shave!!    My brother is also shaving his head and donating the money to my fund.   Date for the chop is 4th October - watch this space!
