We pioneer life-saving cancer research to help us beat cancer

Story

the day you make a difference!

Charlotte, Sara and Jenna Going that Extra mile for Cancer Research!

Monday 5th September

The first leg of our adventure is now over!  the countdown is on to our marathon walk on the 10th :o) Thank you everyone for you support - you have been wonderful and your kind messages have kept us going.

Wednesday 31st August - Last training session!

The countdown is on... Only a few more days until we take part in the Half marathon!  Jenna has an injury, charlotte has been galavanting all summer and Sara has just returned from a girl's weekend in Liverpool!!!  We are so ready for this ;o)

Quick question!  Have you ever challenged yourself and then thought - what have I done?

Over the past few weeks this thought has crossed our minds on more than one occasion.  You may be wondering why that is and if so I urge you to keep reading!

Sadly, while growing up the word cancer was heard many times in our family.  Our Granda Bob and Jenna's Granda John both died from lung cancer.  We along with many families have felt the pain and sense of loss that cancer can bring.

This is where Cancer Research comes in…It is the world’s leading charity dedicated to beating cancer through research and has contributed to cancer death rates falling and continuing to fall in recent years.

We also have other loved ones who are right now fighting a very brave battle against the disease and who urgently require the continuous advancements in treatment which the charity helps to provide.

Cancer does not always bring loss and we have had the opportunity to celebrate this when Sara’s best friend Lynne was diagnosed and survived skin cancer.

The event…On Saturday 4 September we will be taking part in the Glasgow Half Marathon to help raise money for Cancer Research.  We will not be alone in this challenge as many people will be standing beside us doing exactly the same thing.

We knew however that a half marathon was not going to cut it and in order to reach our target we would have to pull out all the stops!

So not only will we be taking part in the Glasgow Half Marathon, Charlotte and Jenna will also be taking part in the Shine Marathon Walk the following week!

This is were you come in…We have learned from past experience that people are more than willing to donate their hard earned money to good causes.  The only thing they want in return is a few hours of sweat, pain and torture– this is where we come in.

With your generous support we are hoping to raise £1500 for Cancer Research so it can continue with the amazing work it has been involved in.

If you feel our efforts deserve a donation please feel free to contribute whatever amount you can (however large or small) to our fundraising account which will go towards continuing the great work carried out by the charity.
