Millennium Walk 2007 · 24 June 2007 ·

We’re the UK’s leading charity for Crohn’s and Colitis. Right now, over 500,000 people in the UK are living with a lifelong disease that many people have never heard of. We’re working to improve diagnosis and treatment; to fund research and to raise awareness.

Story

Greetings All,

Sarah here with a bit of info on this years latest fundraising escapade!

Hot off the heals of a very successful abseil (yes, that's right, abseil!) for the St Marks Hospital Foundation, where, thanks to you I raised over £700, I am about to embark on two of NACC's Millennium Walks. The first is being staged in Cardiff this Sunday 17th June at the start of Colitis and Crohn's Week and the second in London the following Sunday 24th June.

In London I'm being joined by my longest serving (suffering!) friend, Rachel, as we team up to form The Handicapables!(Loosely based on Little Britains 'Lou & Andy' - see photo) As the routes are about 3-4 miles long I'll be using my wheelchair (and NO, Rachel, it does not have a remote control!!). This doesn't mean that I'm cheating, as the two walks (rolls) will still really take it out of me. Plus, Rachel and I intend to complete the st-roll along Londons' Southbank in fancy dress! So if you're in town just look out for two "gothic faeries" being chucked out of the Tate! I'll be the one with pink wings on the back of the go-cart!

As one of the founders of The Millennium Walks it's quite strange to have taken a back seat in the organisation for the year but at least it means that I can take part in the events themselves for a change! I'm really proud of how much the event has grown and even more proud of the volunteers who have taken on mine and Ians mantle and are continuing to make the walks such a huge success! Over the last 7 years these walks have raised over £150,000 for NACC so please, please, PLEASE help me and Rachel to push that total up a bit!

Thank you so much for visiting our fundraising page. All that remains is for you to once again dig deep and sponsor us online.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The National Association for Colitis and Crohn's Disease - NACC will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now! And if you know someone who might like to sponsor us, please forward the page details to them!!

Many thanks for your support, I shall wear it always!

Sarah and Rachel
