Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

On 6th August, I took part in My First Triathlon – the London Triathlon Olympic event (1500m Swim/ 40k Bike/ 10k Run) held at Excel in East London, for some 9000 competitors.

It all went better than I'd hoped - I got there on time, with bike in one piece, didn't get kicked and knocked out on the swim, didn't get tangled up in my wetsuit or run over in transition, didn't get a puncture or crash or get lost on the bike route (and Westminster - as I turned below Big Ben early Sunday morning, was wonderful), and my legs held up for the run at the end. It was a lovely morning - warm and sunny but not too hot. There were a lot of people hanging about looking muscley, or shouting. My Support Team did a really magnificent job of popping up in surprising places and shouting loudly to get me round, and then plying me with things at the end. They were quite something...

...And in the end I finished in 2 hours and 42 minutes, which was about half an hour faster than I'd thought I could. (Swim: 27mins / Bike: 1hr 17 / Run: 50mins) Hooray!

I’m taking this opportunity to raise money for the Green Belt Movement International – more details on this page. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Green Belt Movement International will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

If you’ve already sponsored me – thank you again for your support, your time, and your pennies. I'm paying the donations I've already received over on your behalves here, so the sum you sent me will show, below, shortly...

Love

Sarah
