The Mission: Cycle from Lands End to John O'Groats in 9 days to raise £10,000 for the Pulmonary Hypertension Association.

Why? This question has been raised since sobering up and training started! BUT, it is to raise funds and awareness for the PHA, a relatively small charity that provides hope and support for its members.  It's mission is to seek a cure for PH sufferers.

What is PH? It is a rare and incurable lung disorder in which the blood pressure in the pulmonary artery rises far above normal levels, as a consequence the walls of the pulmonary arteries become thicker and the heart has to pump faster to get oxygen around the body.  Many people suffer from breathlessness on exertion and cannot manage normal activities.

The serious bit!!  As many of you will know, I (Sarah Colledge) have been suffering from PH since 2000.  I count myself extremely fortunate that during this time, I've been relatively stable and the drugs I take help me get through the day.  As PH is such a rare disease the PH community is small and I've made many good friends.  Unfortunately I have lost some of those friends to PH over the last 8 years. Having PH has made me relish life fully, and I feel lucky to have so many wonderful friends, a supportive family and loving husband.
