Out of sheer insanity I have decided to challenge myself to cross Scotland using only my running shoes, a push bike and a kayak!!!

The Nokia Coast to Coast is a true 2 day point-to-point journey across one of the best known mountain landscapes in the World. Steeped in history and legend, the Scottish Highlands heralds names such as Inverness, Loch Ness, Glencoe, Fort Augustus, Fort William and Ben Nevis. The route is as iconic as it sounds. Quite simply, it is a stunning journey set against the backdrop of the very best that Scotland has to offer. 

Apart from my monent of madness (and my weird sense of adventure), the main thought getting me from Coast to Coast will be the fact that I am doing it all for a worthy cause. I am running/cycling/kayaking for ‘Claire’s Project’, a charity set up in early 2008 following the tragic death of my sister, Claire, from a sudden brain haemorrhage caused by a burst aneurysm.

‘Claire’s Project’ aims to raise funds for the provision of facilities, support services and equipment to preserve the comfort and well-being of patients, their relatives and staff in the Neurosurgical Intensive Care Unit at Kings College Hospital and similar facilities in the UK. ‘Claire’s Project’ also aims to provide grants, funding and support to organisations and charities involved in studies into the causes, diagnosis and treatment of brain aneurysms and other neurological conditions.
