Story
Flora?! I couldn't resist the challenge, but your support is needed!
If you have already spotted me walking like a penguin or just witnessed me falling asleep by 9pm at all social occasions it’s only because I'm training to run the Flora London Marathon this year, for the first time! YES, YES, the full 42.195 km race! But before you start laughing your heads off, I've got my running shoes on and I have already started training in order to finish the race without disintegrating!
I'm running the FLM as part of the Barclaycard Team and will be supporting the charity Family Action for their Building Bridges project. This project works to rebuild the resilience of families whose lives have been shattered by issues such as domestic violence and serious mental illness. Barclaycard will be generously matching the funds £ for £ to a total of £2000. The money raised will help them achieve their target of opening up six new building Bridges projects over the next three years.
This is not only an opportunity for me to get fit, give up some vicious vices and wave goodbye to my social life for a few months, but also for you & I to fulfil that 2009 New Year's resolution to be more charitable and help the communities we live amongst. By donating, you will be contributing towards a wonderful cause and will also give me motivation to go the extra mile!
All that is left to say is please dig deep & give to a fantastic cause and don't forget I will also need your support on race day to help me along.
The date is 26 April 2009, more info on http://www.london-marathon.co.uk/.
