Five months ago, in a moment of New Year good intentions madness, I put my name down for a 650 mile charity cycling trip from Redhill to the South of France.   I remember thinking 70 miles a day on average couldn't be that difficult as images of road side cafes, red wine and pretty chateau's wafted through my imagination.  Three months into training and after my first 70 mile long club ride, through rain and hail, with legs that felt they were about to explode I asked myself the question why!??!

So I made a determined effort to focus the mind and try to remember what it was all about.  My local YMCA are raising money to support their youth counselling scheme, Heads Together (www.ymcaredhill.com/heads/).  It's a really good cause and every pound raised will go to vulnerable young people in our community.  I hope that you will support this fantastic project by sponsoring me, I am paying my own expenses so all money goes direct to the charity.
