Story

Updated on Feb 8th 2012 at 6:40 PM from the JustGiving API

As some of you may remember I did a sponsored bike ride to help raise money to get Ruby to America...she needs our help again.

On Sunday 26th February 10.00am my family Mum, Dad, my brother Jadyn, along with Alicia, Jayda, Aaron, Anna, Hollie & Mia, Lauren, Sophie, Becky, Lucy & Izzy with their families are taking part in a Sponsored Treasure Hunt in Windsor, please help us to raise money for Ruby

Four-year-old Ruby desperately needs your help. This week Ruby's family received the devastating news that Ruby's cancer has returned and the only course of treatment to save her young life is to return to America for Proton Therapy.

Over 18months ago Ruby Owen from Stoke-on-Trent underwent Proton Treatment Therapy in the United States to try and remove an aggressive form of cancer on her brain.

The treatment was a success and Ruby survived, returning home to her family in the UK in August 2010; but this week the Owen family received the news they had feared the most, that the Cancer had returned.

And now, 4-year-old Ruby faces another desperate fight for life after Doctors told the family that treatment in the UK could not save her life.

The only feasible option for Ruby is to return to the United States and undergo another course of Proton Therapy at the Proton Therapy Centre in Indiana.

Thanks to the generosity and support of the public during Ruby's first appeal, there is still approximately £58,000 of funds held in a restricted account for Ruby's treatment - but we need your help to raise the rest of the estimated £120,000 required to pay for the treatment in America.

Any donation is gratefully received. For more information or to discuss ways in which you could possibly help save Ruby's life, please contact Ben Sutcliffe at Caudwell Children on 01782 600114 or email ben.sutcliffe@caudwellchildren.com

Important note to donors: As long as Ruby requires the funds raised to pay for treatment in the United States, Caudwell Children will manage all payments of funds for the family. Should there come a time, for whatever reason, that Ruby no longer requires the funds raised for costs associated to medical treatment in America then the monies raised will be used to provide similar donations to sick and disabled children living within the UK through the charity, Caudwell Children.

I did it!:)  I have now done my sponsored ride and had great fun cycling really fast round the park.

A BIG THANK YOU to all of you that sponsored me to help raise money to make Ruby better, but if you didnt get a chance before its still not too late to make a donation to my webpage for Ruby.

I am doing a Sponsored Bike ride on Sunday 14th March at Woking Park 10am to help raise money for 2 year old Ruby Owen from Kidsgrove, Stoke who needs to raise £250,000 for Proton therapy in America.

Ruby's parents Martin and Rachel are my mummy and daddy's friends she is only a little bit older than my own little brother and has been diagnosed with a brain tumor.  Doctors have given Ruby a less than 20 per cent chance of survival without this vital treatment in the States.

Since Ruby has been in hospital, both Martin and Rachel have had to give up their jobs working for their own business, in order to become full-time carers.  They now take it in turns to stay with Ruby at hospital, while also caring for her 10-year-old sister Charlotte

Sasha is being supported by her cousin Jasmine, special friend Heidi, Godmother Clare and her husband Peter who are riding with her, anything you can give to support my ride will help Ruby reach the important target.  Today the total already stands at £66,519
