Dear all,
On June 15th I will join around 50 other cyclists on a plane to Geneva under the collective name of 'The Fireflies'. From the shores of Lac Leman we will embark on a 9 day two-wheeled transalpine trip to the Cote D'Azur.
'Very nice' you may say, however the statistics do not lie: As the crow flies, Geneva to Cannes is a distance of around 300km but our route extends to over 1000km, much of which will be spent climbing up and over 20 of the meanest alps that France has to offer, before we finally descend to the sandy embraces of the Croisette.
It will be bloody hard work and it will of course all be for a very worthy cause:
LEUKA is a charity dedicated to raising money for the haematology unit at the Catherine Lewis Centre at the Hammersmith Hospital. The unit undertakes research in to the causes and treatment of leukaemia. It is believed that achieving a greater understanding of leukaemia will help in the fight against all forms of cancer.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Leuka gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
It has been suggested to me that should you be contemplating a donation of over £100, it may well be better to send your money directly to LEUKA by cheque or by Bank Transfer or Credit Card using the online donation form: www.thefirefliesride.com/images/leuka_donate.jpg
I would greatly appreciate it if you would please be kind enough to sponsor me.
Thanks - Saul
