Hi everyone, Just to let you know I made it through the gale force winds on the Bank Holiday, and led the way for about 50 - 60 greyhounds, other dogs, and their families around the lanes near Tia. I was recognised too - my reputation as a calendar pin up went before me! I didn't get too big-headed.. honest. I had a fantastic time..... firstly, I got fixed up on a blind date with a gorgeous girl called Mags who lives at Tia at the moment - result! When we got back to the kennels after our trek, there were stalls selling homemade goodies, so I did what I do best - stare people out and drool on their shoes until they feel obliged to share their treats with me. Works everytime - and I had built up quite an appetite! I then had to put in several hours hard snoozing... My personal fundraising total currently stands at £190, so a massive thank you to everyone for your generosity. This'll help Tia look after the lovely Mags until she finds her forever sofa, just like me. Sloppy kisses (especially to Mags), Sayer -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My name is Sayer P Holt. I'm a handsome (so I'm told) four-year-old black and white greyhound and hail from the Emerald Isle. My hobbies include sleeping, scrounging for food, sleeping in sunbeams, being chauffeured around in the car... and sleeping some more! Eighteen months ago I was found wandering the streets of Doncaster with nowhere to call home. I didn't even have any belongings in a spotted hanky on a stick like Dick Whittington (or Grommit in 'The Wrong Trousers'). I may have wandered as far London town though, wearing my long legs down to stumps like a dachshund, if I'd not been picked up and taken to the local stray kennels. I thought this was my new home, but I apparently I could only stay a week before 'euthanasia' - I wasn't sure what that was but it sounded a long way away. A lady called Deb picked me up and took me to Tia Greyhound and Lurcher Rescue. There were dozens of dogs like me and I soon moved in with a gorgeous bitch called Sage. I couldn't tell her much about my past because although I had been registered to race, no-one had bothered to make any records. My dad says he knew I was the one as soon as he saw me (I've not heard him say this to anyone else, which I'm secretly quite pleased about). We've settled down well, now he understands I have first dibs on the sofa, and I realise the mop is nothing to be scared of. This year I'm taking part in the Tia Sponsored Walk around the country lanes and fields of Sowerby to check out local talent and to meet my fans - I am Mr December in the Tia 2008 calendar and also starred in the recent book about Tia, 'A Decade of Dogs' (you may know me as 'Chicken Dog'). Ooh - and I want to raise some money to help Tia find more forever homes for dogs like me and another 1400 who they've helped over the last ten years. Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Tia Greyhound & Lurcher Rescue gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Thank you for your support. I may share a pig's ear next time we meet up - you'll have to wrestle me for it though! Woof from Sayer x
