Story
This Summer Chris, Anthony, Gordon and I are cycling from Edinburgh to Budapest (about 3000 km) to raise money for SCI (Schistosomiasis Control Initiative).
SCI is a medical charity that operates in Subsaharan Africa, working to control neglected tropical diseases. These neglected tropical diseases represent a huge health burden in some of the world's poorest nations, despite the existence of treatments that are relatively cheap and effective. If these diseases could be eradicated, not only would this improve the health of people in the affected countries, it would also remove a barrier to social and economic development.
Because drugs used to treat the diseases in question are relatively cheap, SCI is one of the most cost-effective charities around. Even small donations can go a long way to improving the lives of people in need. The organisation 'Giving What We Can' names SCI as one of its top-recommended charities because small donations can make such a big difference.
So please make a donation, even if you can only spare a little cash!
Recommended donation (for wage-earners, not students) is £20. That's only £1 per 100 km!
