Story
In November, the Artemis Great Kindrochit Quadrathlon seemed like an amusing idea, and in a rash moment of madness we all gleefully signed up. One marathon (Hugo), one triathlon (Lou) and a couple of bike rides/ swims/ runs later we're (all) beginning to take it a bit more seriously. As the name suggests this is 4 events back to back, all fairly strenuous in their own right - 1.5km swim across chilly, crocodile infested Loch Tay, 24km hike over 7 nearly vertical Munros, 11km of (treacherous) Kayaking and a 54 km cycle around the Loch. We have estimated this will take around 12 hours but, to be honest, it could take a lot longer. It goes without saying we are doing this for charity - Mercy Corps. This year money raised by the quadrathlon will go to two vital projects run by Mercy Corps in Nepal.
Nepal has suffered from conflict and political instability since 1996. More than 30% of the population live below the poverty line with an average annual income of £812. Today, more than 85% of Nepal's population lives in rural areas where poverty, inequality, lack of services, corruption, political turmoil and social exclusion have led to - and been exacerbated by - past conflict.
Please give generously. This may be the last time you hear from any of us!
