Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page in aid of the Sheffield Children's Hospital.
After five attempts at entering the London Marathon I have finally been successful and secured a place in April 2010. Not normally one to raise money through my running, I thought I would use this opportunity and unique event to help The Sheffield Children's Hospital. The Children's Hospital Charity exists to support and enhance the services of Sheffield Children's NHS Trust and it's reputation as a centre of excellence for the research, prevention, care and cure of childhood illness. You maybe fully aware of the current BBC Radio Sheffield Scanner Appeal that hopes to raise £500,000 to replace the current seven-year old scanner that is used over 1,600 times a year. Hopefully my efforts and your kindness will aid this much needed process.
Anyone one of you who as had the fortune or unfortunately for some, misfortune of having had to use the Sheffield Children's Hospital will be able to appreciate what an outstanding facility it is. My own daughter, Lydia, was born this year with a hole in her little heart and is likely to require surgery at some point in the next couple of years to correct the problem. This experience, daunting and unexpected at the time was made a thousand times easier by the professional and brilliant service we have received during our trips to the Children's Hospital and neighbouring facilities, including Jessops and The Hallamshire.
In addition, as a Sheffield Wednesday Season Ticket holder for several years and very proud of our community link with The Children's Hospital, come April, I will take to the streets of London fully kitted out in my SWFC gear and with the Sheffield's Children's Hospital logo proudly on display.
