We are a 24 hour search & rescue service to save lives at sea

Story

In a few weeks, me and a few of my colleagues will be hurling ourselves around Toughmudder, a 12 mile course of ridiculous obstacles.

As our sponsored charity, we chose the RNLI to commemorate our friend, Chris Skates, who died last year, he was a keen sailor and supporter of their cause. There's additional incentive for me because my dad knows too well what it's like to be in trouble at sea and may have need of their services (but hopefully not)

When I started training for this back in April, I couldn't run, I could barely do one pull up, I could just about do four and a half push ups, exercise was a stranger to me. But I went out, I trained, bought the stupidly tight clothes, downloaded all the apps, got up at 6am to jump about, cut out most of the junk food (can't kick that chocolate habit though), started eating kale,  busted my ankle, injured my back, strained muscles I didn't know I had, learned, got through it and I'm now in the best shape of my life.

I've still never run anything like the distances in this course, but I've got the will, it's for a good cause, it's going to be a piece of piss.

All you have to do is give what you can and you can watch the video of my suffering (possibly live) from your sofa while eating crisps out of your belly button.

Thank you.

RNLI volunteer lifeboat crews provide a 24-hour search and rescue service all around the UK and Ireland, while lifeguards keep a careful watch on the UK’s busiest beaches. RNLI lifesaving and drowning prevention depend on supporter fundraising and the generous donations that you and others give.
