Story
Thanks for looking and supporting this worthy cause I don’t do many charity events, but this event can help so many people it was impossible for me to turn down the chance join a number of my colleagues from Ernst & Young to travel to the Gambia to deliver much needed equipment and take part in football matches for the charity Football Gambia.
Football is a registered charity set up to assist the young people of with basic education. The charity provides basic equipment for schools and then uses football as a vehicle to promote and encourage kids to stay in school by promoting a healthy lifestyle, the provision of football equipment and coaching.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Football gets your money faster and, if you’re a taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Your money will ensure Gambian schools receive much needed notepads, pencils and books whilst the football academies will receive coaching manuals, balls, bibs and cones I would ask therefore that you dig deep, blow the dust off your purses or wallets and sponsor me for such a great cause
Many thanks
Sebastian

‘Promoting Education through Football’
Thank you for taking part in this unique trip - I can guarantee that your ‘Gambian Experience’ will stay with you for the rest of your life! “Everyone in the Gambia is passionate about football” Quoted by Yahya Manneh (Founder of KGH Sports Academy and Football Gambia Co-ordinator, Lamin, The Gambia) FG is a UK registered charity set up in June 2009 by two Ernst & Young employees – Ian Stapleton & David Revell. The charity aims are to assist the young people of.the with basic education. FG use football as a vehicle to promote and encourage kids to stay in school. You will be amazed at how many teenagers do not know how to read and write and is pretty much overlooked. FG ensure that all players at Gambian youth football clubs/ academies are attending school, thei r grades are monitored and they are living a healthy lifestyle (no smoking etc) FG then supply quality football equipment and coaching to academies and schools.

The fundraising target is £550
How will this money be spent?
FG have identified that the most essential football equipment for Gambian football academies and schools are – Coaching manuals, Balls, Bibs and Cones (BBC). Gambian schools desperately need notepads, pencils and books.
•
Each academy has roughly 100 players so a minimum of 25 footballs are required. FG have been testing a series of footballs in the on the rugged surface and tropical climate. The results are conclusive – the cheap ‘Sondico – buy 3 balls for £6’ lasted 3 months, however the more expensive Nike/ Mitre academy ball has suppassed 12 months!
These balls are obviously more expensive at around £7 but they make all the difference.
25 Balls x £7 = £175.
3 Sets of 50 Cones x 3 = £30.
50 Bibs x £1.50 = £75
Total: £280
It is so important that we achieve a minimum of £550 and then apply for Matched Funding through Ernst & Young.
