UPDATE
Well.. I nearly did it!
I set off from Eastbourne at 6am and very frustratingly the wind was against me for most of the day which slowed me down considerably. I also managed to get lost near East Lavington just as my phone died so no longer had gps to find where I was!At 8.50pm I reached Queen Elizabeth Country Park and by now it was pretty dark so unfortunately I couldn't continue. And yes in case you were wondering I was pretty saddle sore by then too!
I feel gutted that I didn't complete the trial in the day but I guess I should be proud that I managed to clock 82miles in one day. Maybe I'll try again next year!
A big thank you to every one that has donated, at least I have reached one of my targets!
UPDATE - You will be able to track my live progress on Monday at www.bright-site.co.uk/southdownsway
On August 30 I will be riding the length of the South Downs Way (that's 99 miles) on my bike in one day.
The hardest part of this challenge for me will be getting through it without having any toilets nearby.
I suffer from ulcerative colitis - a disease which affects my large intestine. On a good day I can need the toilet only once. On a bad day I can go up to 20 times.
This little known illness affects more people than you may think and can be completely dehabilitating.
Crohn's and Colitis UK supports sufferers and their families and carries out research into my illness. All the money raised from this ride will be donated to them. Find out more at www.nacc.org.uk
I have decided to ride the South Downs Way (from Eastbourne to Winchester) as cycling is a passion of mine. When i'm not cycling you will find me running my business - Bright Site - in Shoreham.
Thank you for taking the time to read my page - and let's hope my bowels are having a good day on August 30.
