Update 30/5/2010
I am pleased to report that I completed the race - alive and well! It was an extremely hot day but there was a good atmosphere helped by a number of my work colleagues shouting encouragement (and abuse!) along the way. I have attached a couple of photos to the webpage as evidence although more can be seen (including crossing the finishing line) using the following link:
Many thanks for your tremendous support which resulted in over £1,500 to date being raised in memory of Sharon for Dove House Hospice and a further £500 for Help the Hospices. The family have expressed a desire that the funds raised in Sharon's name be directed to the bedded unit at Dove House.
Glen.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am running in the Jane Tomlinson 10k run on Sunday 23rd May 2010. Originally I just joined the run as part of the Yorkshire Bank's corporate team for the fun and hopefully a little bit of personal fitness.
However things changed on Sunday...........
I remember Sharon from my youth when knocking around with her brother Glen - two young (now old) "scroats" from Hessle Road! Sharon was the one to clip him (or both of us) round the ear when we were a little too cheeky which was nearly every time I visited their house. I learnt with sadness from Glen more recently of her struggle against cancer, how she was determined to fight it for the sakes of her two teenage boys, Matthew & Karl.
Sharon finally lost her battle on Sunday 25th April 2010. She was only 45.
The family couldn't speak too highly of the care Sharon received in Dove House Hospice. So what better incentive to drag my carcass around the course then to dedicate my run/walk/crawl to Dove House Hospice. Sharon benefitted from the donations made by others before so it's important to keep donations flowing to help those in the future.
Through Yorkshire Banks charity partnership with Help the Hospices, the money I raise will be donated to Dove House Hospice. Through the bank's matched funding scheme, Yorkshire Bank will match fund pound for pound all funds that are raised with 50% of the matching donated to Help the Hospices and 50% to Dove House Hospice.
Matched funding for Dove House Hospice shown under offline donations.
Please give generously.
