Story
23rd October 2009 I am aiming to walk the highest freestanding mountain in the world. Kilimanjaro is also the highest mountain on the African continent at 5896m, over 19,000ft.
My trek takes the less-trodden Machame route, allowing us to camp and fully appreciate the splendour of our surroundings. This is a challenging trek at altitude, climbing one of the most impressive and well-known mountains in the world.
I was a member of the British Army for 8 years and am now actively involved in the RMLY (TA). During my active service I was lucky enough to have never sustained any serious injuries.
However, one of my best friends that is taking part in the challenge with myself was not that lucky.
It will be challenging for myself, but even more for him as he is a below knee amputee.,and we have chosen to dedicate some of our time to raise as much as possible for the charity Help for Heroes.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Help for Heroes gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
