Story
Thank you so much for visiting our JustGiving wedding page!
We can't wait to celebrate this day with our closest family
and friends. When we are married, we will have everything that we need. However, if you would really like to give us a wedding gift, we would invite you to donate to this cause which is very special to us. If we can make a small change to other people’s lives, then we will be happy.
Above is a photo of Mark from when he was born being held by his eldest brother, Robert. As many of you may know, Robert was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer when he was only 17 years old and sadly died after a 2 ½ year battle in 2004 at the age of 19.
During his treatment, Rob was a patient at the Young Oncology Unit, now known as the Teenage and Young Adult Unit (TYA), at The Christie Hospital in Manchester. The unit treats 16-24 year olds who are dealing with cancer and related illnesses.
Mark’s family, together with their friends, raised money in Rob’s name for a new Day Care Unit at the TYA, which opened in 2009, and is known as “Rob’s Day Unit”.
They continue to raise money for better equipment and facilities in memory of Rob and, to date, have raised over £460,000, which has gone a long way to improving the care and lives of young cancer sufferers.
This is close to our hearts and neither of us could think of a better way of celebrating our marriage than by helping to support this fantastic cause.
