Story
On Sunday 7th September the JPMorgan Bournemouth Summer Interns presented Kick for Kikambala, the first event aimed at raising money to construct a school in the coastal community of Kikambala, near Mombasa in Kenya.
The event was tremendously successful with Chris Rance's team finally coming out as Winners.
Funds raised are going towards the building of a complete primary school for 100 orphaned/HIV children (3 classrooms and a kitchen). This school is currently housed in little more than a galvanized tin shed! The total build cost is approximately £7,000!
These children are shunned even from the Kenyan State school system. All funding for this school is through donations from the few local tourists and the 2 teachers are volunteers! The children are provided with free school uniforms and are given food. The school began last October with 30 kids and now has no more capacity.
