Hospice care eases the physical and emotional pain of death and dying. Letting people focus on living, right until the end. But too many people miss out on this essential care. Hospice UK fights for hospice care for all who need it, for now and forever.

Story

HORRAY, I DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I did it in 2 hours 4 mins and 22 secs, and I came in 14176th place out of 50 000, not bad for a first effort I reckon. I think I am about to lose 2 toenails though!

It was really busy to try and run, but lots of bands along the way and people supporting and the trying to run around people took my mind off the actual distance. It was quite emotional to be running for Dad and it really helped to know that i had to get round because of all the money people have been so generous in giving! Thank you so much to everyone for supporting me, you are all brilliant!!

Cheers

Lots of love

Sian

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

I have been training hard for the Great North Run, a half marathon (13.1miles) to be run in September. This will be a big effort for me as I have only ever run 3.5 miles, and that was 5 years ago and I have since had 2 babies via caesarian section!

I am doing this in memory of my Lovely Dad, Mike Lewis, who sadly died in May last year following a painful 6 months with lung cancer (he was not a smoker).

He died at Myton Hospice, Warwick. They were fantastic and just did everything right at that horrible time, enabling him to die in as dignified and calm a way as possible.

He was admitted to the hospice for a short spell about 2 months earlier when he hit a bad patch, they were able to review his management and alter his medications. This intervention got his pain under better control which actually improved his quality of life, temporarily.  A care package was also implemented at home to try and help mum and him on a functional level.

Without the hospice  the end result would still have been the same, but the whole situation would have been even more traumatic for dad and our family.

Help the hospice give time and care to people with incurable illnesses. Every year they help 250 000 terminally ill adults and children to live life to the full, whatever time they have left. Care is tailored to the individual at home, in day care or in the hospice and is given free of charge. On average just 34% of the funding comes from the government.

So, please, can I ask you to donate so that the thousands of people who need this invaluable help can continue to benefit like my Dad.

Thank you very very much, I truly do appreciate any donation you feel able to make.

Lots of love
