Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. It would be great if you could dig deep and sponsor me online.
Getting into RADA was like a dream come true. When I received my offer of a place, I don't think I stopped smiling for at least a week. I don't think my mum has stopped yet!
While it was the best news of my life to be offered a place at the most prestigious Drama School in the world, reality soon dawned upon me. How on earth was I going to afford this? Contrary to some people's thoughts, Drama School isn't a 'mickey-mouse' alternative to University; I will easily end up working the equivalent in a day to what most of my friends at University work in a week. So a part-time job would be out of the question.
I soon realised that this would have to be a case of swallowing my pride and asking others for help. My aim of £4500 is based on the assumption that I will be eligible for the maximum Maintenance Grant and the maximum Student Loan. The grant will go a long way towards my fees, whereas the loan will be for my living costs. The maximum loan is just over £6500, whilst RADA say that the minimum a student should be expected to raise for living in London is over £9000.
I know that there are many others in a position similar to myself, but that doesn't change the fact that I am left with little other choice but to ask for your help. Absolutely no amount is too small to be of real value to me.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Royal Academy of Dramatic Art will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Please help prevent my dream from becoming a nightmare!
Many thanks for your time.
Simon.
