Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
I will be taking part in the Flora London Marathon in April 2009 as part of the London Fire Brigade team. I will be running in aid of the Helen Rollason Heal Cancer Charity.
Pictured is Sally Baker, she was the daughter of one of my Mum’s best friends and had been suffering from breast cancer for nine years. During that time she underwent surgery, chemo, radio and hormone treatment.
While she was undergoing treatment she decided that she would like to raise money for a cancer charity. She chose the Helen Rollason Heal Cancer Charity who help sufferers and their families. They aim to provide a network of centres and services to provide support and care for those touched by the disease. The Charity is trying to secure land to build a new care centre so that more people can have access to a full range of services.
Sally had been riding motorbikes on and off for about 11 years and it was a special day when she and partner Phil became the proud owners of a 'Harley Sportster'. Sally's proudest achievement was taking part in the 2007 Sponsored Amazon Thunder Bike Ride from Aviemore to London to raise money for the charity. She raised £6000 for the charity.
Sally proved that life goes on after the diagnosis of cancer.
Sadly Sally died in March 2008 aged 45.
Your donations are gratefully received to enable the charity to continue to help people like Sally and their families.
Whatever you can give can make a difference.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Helen Rollason Heal Cancer Charity gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Many thanks for your support.
