UPDATE: 08/09/08
With apologies for my tardiness, an update to let you know we successfully reached Uhuru peak on Kilimanjaro. We didn't hang around long because it was -40C with the windchill, but we did it!

Full details will be my Blog over the coming days http://savealife.typepad.com/save_a_life/

Thank you all for your support.

The Bloodometer is now live at http://www.futurepoint.co.uk/savealife/default.html. Please take a minute to look and pledge to give blood; it is a quick, pain free, but very rewarding thing to do. Full details are on my Blog http://savealife.typepad.com/save_a_life/

==================

Dear friends,

I need your help. During 2008 I will be completing two challenges, which I hope will motivate you to support me in raising money for Leukaemia Research.

Firstly, In April I will be running the London Marathon hoping to come in at sub-4 hours.

Then in July I will be attempting Mount Kilimanjaro, the world's tallest freestanding mountain, which at 5,895 metres is somewhat higher than the UK's highest peak, Ben Nevis at 1,344 metres. Passing through every eco-system on earth it is climatically like going from the equator to the North Pole.

As most of you will know I was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia in 2007. Breakthroughs in drug treatments are my best hope of management/cure as I have no known blood match for a bone marrow transplant.

Leukaemia Research is a charity close to my heart as they are the only charity in the UK dedicated exclusively to researching blood cancers and disorders. They are committed to giving everyone living with Leukaemia the best chance of survival.

Leukaemia Research receives no government grants and their life-saving research depends entirely on voluntary donations. I hope to do my bit and that I can also inspire you to help.

Donating through this site is totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

I will be paying all expenses myself, so every penny of your donation will go to Leukaemia Research.  Please sponsor me now and thank you for your support.

Best wishes

Simon
