Hi everyone,

Thanks for taking the time to visit our Just Giving page.

Although this event has been organised by Above & Beyond Charities and can be entered by anyone, we have decided to enter the event as a team, 'Team Simplyhealth', as you can see there is a minimum amount to be raised, which is £500 per cyclist (so we need to raise £3000), all money raised goes to this wonderful appeal, more details below.

First of all what are we doing?  a cycle tour starting in Bristol, covering Exmoor, Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor right down to Lands End.  The tour covers 250 miles over 3 days (Friday 24th through to Sunday 26th September 2010).

Why are we doing this? we are all keen cyclists and always looking to get involved in charitable events, we were made aware of this event by our colleague Jason Edgar, who back in April 2008, had testicular cancer.  We are pleased to say that Jason has brought us together as a team and we are looking forward to making a difference to the local cancer community.  Cancer is something that affects so many of our colleagues, friends and family and many of us knows or has known someone whose life has been affected by it. Please help us in this quest.

We have included some key messages on the CaRE Appeal below:

Above and Beyond supports projects which touch the lives of the thousands of people cared for by the University Hospitals Bristol and local community healthcare services each year.

Above and Beyond's CaRE Appeal (Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy Environment Appeal) aims to provide £1.6 million to transform facilities for cancer patients in Bristol.  £1.1 million has already been raised through past donations to Above and Beyond charities for the Bristol Haematology & Oncology Centre (BHOC), however, we need YOUR help to raise the final £400,000 by Autumn 2010.

One in three people are diagnosed with cancer at some point in their lifetime. 6500 of those are cared for by BHOC each year.  Forty years of outstanding care has taken it's toll.

Together we can make it better.

The CaRE Appeal aims to provide facilities that will reflect the outstanding care and brilliant people who work at the BHOC.  For more information please visit http://www.aboveandbeyond.org.uk
