SJ Berwin Charity of the year for 2007/2008 - Tomorrow's People (http://www.tomorrows-people.org.uk/)

"Tomorrow’s People believes in giving people a hand up rather than a handout."

Tomorrow’s People is a charity that, since 1984, has helped change the lives of thousands across the UK.

We help break the cycle of unemployment so that people can take positive control of their lives and build a brighter future. We also save employers time and money by finding them the right people for the right jobs.

Unemployment damages people’s lives in so many ways. Being out of work means people are more likely to live in poverty housing, have low educational attainment, poor physical health, mental and emotional issues, be victims of crime, have reduced life expectancy and lack of employment prospects.

We put people on the road back to employment, getting them into appropriate, sustainable jobs.

We believe everyone should have the chance to build the best life they can, no matter how it started off. We empower young people who've grown up without hope and give them the confidence and the skills to find work, realise their potential, and value themselves.
