“SJB walks across Britain” is the centrepiece fundraising initiative for SJ Berwin’s charity of the year, Rwanda Restored. Held between 11 and 21 June 2009 - the year of the 15th Anniversary of the end of the Rwandan genocide - the trek will span the width of Britain, covering the 180 miles from Avonmouth to London.
The 180-mile walk is symbolic of the regular displacement that Rwandans have had to suffer over the years, fleeing their communities on foot as a result of regular massacres culminating in the genocide of 1994. Some of these very communities are at the heart of Rwanda Restored's efforts to unleash the country's latent potential.
This page is for Section 2 of the walk: Devizes to Reading - Saturday 13 to Sunday 14 June 2009 (43 miles). Section 2 is the longest section of the walk and the team are currently in training in order to be ready for the task ahead.
