BREAKING NEWS!
STATSBOY COMPLETES WHITEPEAKS CHALLENGE!!

Thats right friends, on the 18th of March STATSBOY completed not 24 but 25 Austrian Peaks with a pair of planks strapped to his feet and a great deal of moral support from his sponsors!

The extra peak just had to be done simply because it was there! - Actually, in all honesty it was down to the fantastic local guide Tom and the excellent logistics of the SCOPE lassies and the teams from Tall Stories and ARTIS meaning that time was available to do it.  No simple task that.

I'm not sure of the final figures but i'm told the vertical decent was not two Everests but closer to three!  We were divided into three teams and although it wasn't a competition there was a good deal of friendly rivalry going on (Well-done Blue Team!!)  The weather was, essentially, appalling with a good deal of rain, sleet and snow and visibility down to a mere 15ft or so at times - pretty tough going and the temperature was going up and down constantly which didn't help either.  Thats said, the snow was actually quite good and at the top was at times fabulous.  Just wish i'd had time to play around in it!

Although this challenge is finished for me, the challenges of daily life go on for those who live and suffer with cerebral palsy and therefore the oppurtunity for us to help out where we can will always be there.  The doors are not closed yet and there is still a bit of time to sift through the buttons and pocket fluff and give what you can and be a part of the SKISTATSBOY White Peaks Challege 2008 experience.

HISTORY  On the 15th March 2008 I will be embarking on a bit of an adventure called the White Peaks Challenge. I’m taking part in a Skiing endurance challenge to raise funds on behalf of SCOPE, the charity for people who live with cerebral palsy. The challenge is to ski 24 peaks in 48 hours on red and black (advanced grade) routes.  If you think this sounds easy then think again – it’s a similar distance to skiing Mount Everest from summit to Valley.. twice!

Cerebral palsy is the most commonly diagnosed physical condition in the UK, and occurs around the time of birth when part of the brain fails to develop properly. It can happen to any child in any family.   SCOPE is one of the charities working with people with cerebral palsy, their families and their carers.

Your sponsorship money will allow SCOPE to continue running their vital services which are designed to support disabled people in every aspect of their lives from birth and through adulthood.  SCOPE aims, as far as possible, to achieve equality and normality for people who live with cerebral palsy.

I had pledged to raise a minimum amount of £1500 for SCOPE and we have now exceeded this! As we have a couple of months in hand before the event I have decided to raise the target bar - a bit like high jump!  So now the target is £2000 and with the continued generosity of everybody we will hopefully exceed that too.

There are some convenient ways of sponsoring me.  You can donate online at www.justgiving.com/skistatsboy or in person by contacting me initially on adenmckay@statsgroup.com or 01224 728730.

If you are an individual  UK tax payer, SCOPE can claim gift aid on your donation.  This means SCOPE can claim the tax already paid on your donation at no extra cost to you.  For example, If you donate £50 then SCOPE will be able to secure an additional £14.10 from the tax.  To do this, ensure you tick the box on the online form or on my sponsorship form.

Thanks so much for supporting me.  I will be updating the site during the build-up and also after the event with photos and the all important grand total of how much we raised.
